Motorcycle road tests for classes M2 and M are offered from mid-May to mid-October each year, weather permitting.
"All drive tests are conducted Monday to Friday. G Test road tests are available from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm, while G2 road tests are available from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. All centers are closed on Sundays, but open on Saturdays for G1 and other services."

G ROAD TEST FULL G

A Full G Licence to Drive a Car, Van or Small Truck. This test assesses more advanced driving skills, includes a highway component, and usually takes about 30 minutes. Eligibility one year G2 driver experience or 2 year foreign experience.

G2 ROAD TEST LEVEL 2

Level 2 of Graduated Licence for a Car, Van or Small Truck. This test assesses basic driving skills, is commonly city driving skills referred to as a “Eligibility one year G1 driver experience or 1 year foreign experience, successful will get G2

M CLASS ROAD TEST

Book a road test and then Class M road test. For the Class M road test, a driver examiner at a DriveTest Centre will assess more advanced driving skills. If you are successful, you will receive a full Class M licence in your mail box in 4 weeks

M2 CLASS ROAD TEST

M2: Level 2 of graduated licensing for motorcycles, including limited-speed motorcycles (motor scooters) and motor-assisted bicycles (mopeds). Holders may also drive a Class G vehicle under the conditions.

Minimum Requirements For Drivers’ Licences

In Ontario, the minimum criteria for obtaining a driver’s license typically include the following:

  • Eligibility starts at 16 years of age (with a note that age requirements for commercial licenses may differ).
  • New residents of Ontario with a driver’s license from another jurisdiction must apply for an Ontario

    license within 60 days of relocating.

  • Providing acceptable identification during the application process is mandatory.
  • Meeting medical prerequisites is essential.
  • Payment of relevant fees is required (note that fees may be subject to alteration).
  • Successfully passing a vision examination, a knowledge assessment, and one or more road tests is mandatory.

Ontario Class G Road Test

This test assesses more advanced driving skills, includes a highway component, and usually takes about 30 minutes. If you are successful, you will be issued a Class G licence. You will be required to practice driving for at least a year after obtaining your Class G2 licence before you qualify for the Class G road test.

Ontario Class G2 Road Test

This test assesses basic driving skills, is commonly referred to as a “city test,” and usually takes about 20 minutes. If you are successful, you will be granted a Class G2 licence. If you have never driven before, you will be required to gain one year of driving experience before you qualify for this test. If you take a course at an MTO-recognized driving school, your eligibility requirement may be reduced by four months

In Ontario, getting a motorcycle driver’s licence is a completely separate process from obtaining a licence to drive any other vehicle. When you have met the mandatory wait periods and have enough experience, you can book a road test. Motorcycle road tests (classes M2 and M) are available from mid-May to mid-October each year, weather permitting.  Motorcycle road tests will be available for booking beginning May 1st. To avoid disappointment, please plan ahead and book according to your motorcycle licence expiry date. (Please note that if you have a combined licence, such as a GM2 licence, the date shown on the licence card may reflect the date of the other licence rather than the motorcycle licence.)

Vehicle Requirements

Vehicle Requirements for Your Road Test. Before your road test, the driver examiner must perform a basic vehicle check to ensure your vehicle is fit for the purpose. The driver examiner may request your assistance to ensure your vehicle is safe (i.e., trying the turn signals, brake lights, windshield, tire Pressure , damage etc.) When you arrive for your test, please park your vehicle and go inside the DriveTest Centre to check-in. Most centers have a self-serve kiosk for check-in; see a customer service agent if yours does not. After check-in, return to your vehicle and wait for the driver examiner. If your driver examiner does not arrive at your vehicle within 30 minutes of your appointment time, please return to the customer service dispatch counter directly.

Process for Obtaining a Class G1, Class G2, and Then a Full Class G Licence

For most people, the graduated licensing program takes approximately 20 to 24 months; however, you have up to five years to finish the entire process. If you are approaching five years and you have not yet obtained your full Class G licence, you may choose to requalify as a Class G2 driver for an additional five years by successfully completing the Class G2 road test again (road test and licensing fees will apply). Once your novice licence has expired, you may need to start over at the Class G1 level. If I fail a road test, how long do I need to wait, and do I need to pay the Road Test fee again?

When you fail a road test, you will have to wait 10 days before another attempt. When you re-book the next road test, you must pay a road test fee before booking.
